Summertime wedding vibes at Cloughjordan

One of the standout features of Cloughjordan House as a Tipperary wedding venue is its ability to host every aspect of your wedding day in one location. From a variety of ceremony options, both indoor and outdoor, to stunning photography spots and accommodations that can comfortably cater to most wedding sizes, Cloughjordan House also has a well-earned reputation for serving delicious, locally sourced food. It’s difficult to find a more convenient and well-rounded setting for your special day.

Choosing a wedding venue is probably the hardest decision to take when it comes to organising the big day. We are just too spoilt for choice in Ireland! There are a bewildering number of options available, especially as an increasing number of couples opt to hold their Ceremony and Reception at the same location.

This kind of flexibility has many advantages, convenience of course – but the ability to plan your own Ceremony in surroundings you are comfortable with, with music, readings and sentiments you have both chosen opens up a world of possibilities, and ensures you and your guests come away having experienced a truly unique and special moment.

Cloughjordan House is a little haven of family run loveliness in Co. Tipperary. Here they grow their own vegetables, run cookery classes and offer an assortment of accommodation types to suit everyone in your wedding party.

We have had some wonderful days at this Tipperary wedding venue – and every wedding has been very different, indeed the owners Peter and Sarah are really encouraging when it comes to couples using their own ideas to shape the look and atmosphere of the venue on the day. The main house itself has 4 double rooms and is taken the night before if the couple wish to get ready on site.

The House is the focal point for the reception where the lawn plays host to drinks, canapés and games in the good weather. Sustainability is becoming an increasingly important factor for couples and Cloughjordan’s seasonal menus will appeal to many – the food on offer is really top notch, and knowing it has been grown in the next field makes it that little bit more special.

We captured Niamh and Orla’s big day and celebration at CJH last summer, and it was really one to remember. They opted for the converted Woodshed onsite for their civil ceremony, not before enjoying a First Look in the woods close to the main house. A gorgeous way to start the day and get some photography done and out of the way.

Being summertime guests were able to make full use of the lawn and outdoor games back at the reception, with most opting to make full use of the fantastic variety of accommodation options on site. We can’t wait to get back to Tipperary soon!

Wedding Ceremonies at Cloughjordan House

Cloughjordan House provide a number of different and varied options when it comes to holding your wedding ceremony:

  • The Lawn (outdoors)
  • The Forest clearing (outdoors)
  • The Woodshed (indoors)
  • The Ballroom (indoors)

Ceremonies on the lawn

Outdoor ceremonies celebrated on the lawn take place directly in front of the House. It’s a beautiful setting perfect for the summertime or early Autumn, with the main House providing a magnificent backdrop to the occasion. There is a always a genuine wow moment here when the gorgeous bride or groom emerge from the House and make their way slowly up the aisle.

Ceremonies in the Forest

The forest lies about 200 yards from the House, within it you will find a clearing where a gorgeously intimate, yet simple space has been carved out within the undergrowth. Your guests will watch on from simply placed benches as make your way up a lantern-lit aisle with bark underfoot. At the top of the aisle your bethrothed will be standing to greet you next to an ancient tree stump. This spot is just pure romance. If you are dreaming of saying ‘I Do’ under a willow arch, surrounded by Mother Nature then this is the space for you.

Ceremonies in The Woodshed

A more recent addition to Cloughjordan House, the Woodshed is a converted barn situated just behind the main house. It’s a great spot if the weather doesn’t behave or if you are having a winter wedding, fairy lights, lanterns and candles bringing a cosy and intimate atmosphere to the celebration.

Holding you ceremony in The Ballroom

The Ballroom befits a house with 800 years of history – and it’s a wonderful alternative for smaller weddings. The ballroom also hosts the band and DJ later on in the evening.

These locations give you incredible flexibility and peace of mind when dealing with the unpredictable weather we can get in this part of the world. We have filmed ceremonies in each of the locations and they have all been incredibly special and uniquely different.

Church Ceremony venues close to Cloughjordan

For more traditional church ceremonies Cloughjordan village is just a 5 minute walk from the House and home to both Catholic Church and Church of Ireland religious venues. The closeness of both is incredibly convenient, many couples will choose to walk back to Cloughjordan House after their ceremony or make use of the vintage car made available to each wedding party.

Accommodation options for wedding guests

There is plenty of room on the estate for wedding guests of even larger sized weddings. The main house itself has 4 double rooms and is offered the night before the big day to any couple wishing to get ready on site. Most couples will get ready here.

The Coach House sleeps 4 more comfortably and acts as an extension to the main house. The Dairy is lovely old converted building which will cater for 4 more couples. The more adventurous amongst your party will enjoy the fabulous glamping available onsite in the shape of tastefully designed pods (Emma stayed there recently whilst on a separate shoot and slept like a baby!), while the Cowsheds have been lovingly restored to house a further 18 bedrooms.

Peter himself has had a major hand in much of the restoration at Cloughjordan House and his attention to detail really shines throughout.

Having Emma capture our day was hands down one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. The videos are original, of movie quality, and capture the atmosphere and energy of our day in a way we couldn't have imagined! Apart from her incredible talent, she is a lovely person, super easy to work with, and discreet while still bringing a fun and chill presence. She makes you feel totally safe in her hands from first contact through to sending through the final videos. Thank you so much, Emma!
